Public Wifi - Page to enter credentials is not loading

Hi There,


I am using a public wifi network as I am away from home. I had previously bought 30 days access which had its on credentials to capture before the final connection to the hotspot was made. I have now purchased a further 30 days access and that has come with new credentials. When I select the network it says it is connected etc but the page to input the new credentials will not load and I am unable to use the internet as it says I am not connected whenever I try to load a site.


I have tried a variety of things so far:

  • laptop off/on
  • wifi off/on
  • clear DNS
  • use apple captive address - it just tells me I'm not online and doesn't seem to search out whether there is a captive requirement.
  • rebooted in safe mode and repeated all of the above.


I'd welcome any other suggestions people might have.


I'm actually not a computer expert but I can usually figure things out/ follow instructions so I'd be really grateful if responses were kept simple.


FYI - I'm having exactly the same issue with my iPhone.

launch a Browser and enter the all numeric IP address:


1.1.1.1 and press return


You should get your credentials page. if you get the CloudFlare** splash page, that is expected behavior as well.


**CloudFlare is NOT part of the solution here -- they just have the easiest-to-remember all numeric IP address.
