What Siri command do I use to set a timer with Stop Playing set when it finishes?
Since iOS17 and the update to Timer, I’ve been unable to say “Hey Siri, set a timer for x” and have it Stop Playing at the end. Previously, I had set the action to Stop Playing one time, manually, and every timer would automatically be set that way.
Now, it seems the new ability to save timers has interfered with this. I’ve tried labelling the timer and asking Siri to set [label] timer, but it just starts a new one.
I fall asleep to podcasts. When I start to drift off my routine has gone from:
saying “Hey Siri, set a timer for x minutes” with my eyes closed
to
opening my eyes, reaching for my phone, opening the Timer app, setting the duration to x minutes, changing it from Radial to Stop Playing, then rolling back over and hoping to get back to the brink of sleep where I had been when I decided to set the timer.
Siri is an accessibility feature and this update has made it worse. It actively interrupts my attempt to get to sleep every single night and I’m sick of it. So, Apple, can you please tell me the precise words I need to say to Siri to get it to just work again like it used to? I’ve tried every combination I can think of with no luck. Or is there a hidden way to set once and for all a default outcome at the end of a timer that applies to every subsequent timer?
Thank you.
PS: If you’d like some feedback, please get rid of the saving timers feature which I suspect is causing this problem. I can’t imagine anyone asked for it, or has thanked you for it. It clutters up the app and they’re just something to delete. Nobody who wants to set a 7.5 minute timer for their boiled egg every morning is opening up the Timer app and scrolling through to find the correct one before setting it. They’re leaving their phone in their pocket and asking Siri to do it for them.
