Hello ALStark,

This page can help provide some details and steps to take for resolving issues sending messages: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

1. Update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS if needed.
2. In the Settings app, tap Cellular. Make sure that your phone line is turned on. If you use multiple SIMs, make sure that the phone number you want to use is selected and turned on.
3. In the Settings app, tap Messages. Turn iMessage off and then back on.
4. Tap Send & Receive.
5. Tap the phone number that you want to use with Messages.

If you see a green message bubble
If you see a green message bubble instead of a blue one, then that message was sent using MMS/SMS instead of iMessage. There are several reasons for this:
* The person that you sent the message to doesn't have an Apple device.
* iMessage is turned off on your device or on your recipient’s device. To check if iMessage is turned on for your device, go to Settings > Messages > iMessage.
* iMessage is temporarily unavailable on your device or on your recipient’s device.
* You might need to update your settings for Messages after you set up a new device.

If it seems that iMessage isn't currently activated (Settings > Messages, check for text below the iMessage switch), then this page can provide steps that should be able to resolve that: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone - Apple Support

Cheers.
