iPhone not ringing when wearing watch

I need my phone to ring when I’m wearing my watch. Right now, I get no notification on either that I’m getting a call. I just got the Apple Watch. I’m ready to send it back because this is unacceptable

We should have the option to choose or make the phone dominant even when wearing the watch so the phone rings or notifications are heard on the phone.

it would be terrific if this could be in a future update.

I have the same issue that many others are inquiring about. When wearing my watch, my phone does not ring nor let me know I have a text. I miss a lot of calls because I might be doing something and don’t notice my watch letting me know if in fact it does.

if I’m expecting an important call, I turn my watch off and leave it in the house. I can’t believe it would be difficult to get both Watch and phone to ring. It would certainly eliminate a lot of issues. Is it because someone doesn’t think people need that?

Open Control Center and make sure you are not in Theater Mode or have Do Not Disturb enabled.

Notifications appear on your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both. If your iPhone is unlocked, you get notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch. If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked. For more info, see:

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

This is helpful; it does indeed allow my phone to ring and to get calls on Mac Air. But it also turns off all the apps on the watch--heart rate, sleep tracking, etc--the very reasons for having an Apple watch. In effect, it turns a $400 Apple watch into a Timex I can buy for $30.

I'd like to have those apps and at the same time receive calls on my iPhone and MacBook. The watch should not have dominion over all other Apple devices. At the very least, I wish Apple would give us this choice.
