unable to pair apple watch with new iphone

I just got an iPhone 15 Pro. I have erased and reset my old iPhone in order to turn it in. When I go to my watch app on my new phone, I get, "GOOD EVENING. If you have an apple watch, you can pair it here." I hit "Pair Existing Watch" and I get "Unable to Connect to Apple Watch".

When I go to my Apple Watch and try to update the software, I get, "Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for a software update". I have tried EVERYTHING. Nothing works. This is VERY frustrating.
