iPhone 15 Screen Scratching Easily?

I've had my new iPhone since launch date and only just noticed a tiny scratch in the top right of the screen. It's not minor as I can feel it by running my nail along the screen and just very confused where it's come from. I always have the phone by itself in my pocket and haven't dropped it or anything similar at all.

Compare that to my previous iPhone 12 Pro Max which I never had a screen protector on and it's been dropped a handful of times with not a single scratch on the screen.

I don't have a screen protector atm so technically my fault, but I'm struggling to understand what could have scratched it so easily.

Ive had mine since launch, I also have had every iPhone ever, never wore a case or screen protector, I dropped those hundreds of times and never got scratches. My iPhone 15 Pro Max has more scratches on it in 1 month with 0 drops than any phone ive ever had in my life, my entire screen is deep scratches. it is terrible.

That’s truly amazing, because the iPhone 15 has identical glass to the past 4 models.

It is amazing, actually. Apple put the same glass on iPhone 12, 13, 14 and 15. No change at all. It's all Ceramic Shield. And all scratched just as easily as iPhone 15. And every iPhone ever made benefits from a decent quality Screen protector. Which is likely why Apple sells and installs Belkin Screen Protectors in their stores throughout the world. Amazing, right?

Congratulations, you added weight and aditional expenses to an expensive asset which has been designed and advertised to be light (titanium) and probably you will have a fatter, bigger an uglier phone. Nonsense.

hundreds of people now endorse this issue, and on my case my apple business br, replaced my phone after three months, in which the screen was a Jackson Pollock. Without paying any fee. Something that never happened before, and I still have most of my old devices to compare…

Then you can congratulate me as well. I won't even turn on a new iPhone without first installing a decent quality screen protector and putting my phone in a good quality case. I spent well over $1000 on my 15 Pro Max and couldn't imagine not ensuring it can't be scratched.

Are you aware the glass formulation on iPhone 15 is no different than the glass on iPhone 12, 13 and 14? It is exactly the same. If you have actually owned each and every one of these phones and didn't get a scratch without a screen protector you are beyond lucky. With each model iPhone I just mentioned, just as many people came to this very forum to complain their iPhone screen scratched easier than iPhone they've ever owned. There are pages and pages of people claiming this for the previous models.

You may think my iPhone is uglier for having protection, but then my iPhone has ZERO scratches on the screen or case itself.

Dear Katana-san, if you read the thread carefully you will see that I actually did that, but not on a soulless online feedback form. And at least on the company i work for, Apple has acepted our demands without conditions, I can imagine the driver after the decision. But those individual people (+400) that doesnt have this force behind them seems to not be that lucky.

the iPhone is advertised without protectors or cases. Any accesories or screen protectors changes the tactile experience. Dont get me wrong i own cases for when im do sports or mountain activities. But the scratches doesnt happened on those harsh conditions but on the same office-home scenarios in which all the other phones has been pristine.

the other day i was doing a iPhone tech art frame with an iPhone 3gs, and yes it had scratches, but taking on account the number of years it was my workhorse, it had less than my iPhone 15

I am just noticing tiny scratches on my brand new iPhone 15. I don’t understand as I am always very careful. I am in my 70s and this was a present and don’t know what to do next. I am feeling not so bad after seeing so many people saying the same thing, what do we do now.

Install a good quality screen protector, which will hide the micro-scratches and prevent anymore scratches. That's what you do now.

I really am at a loss for words. My beautiful new iPhone 15 which I have hardly used seems to have scratches over it. I am 70 years of age and this was a present. I have had iPhones and iPads since beginning. I met Steve jobs and Sir Jonathan Ives in the car park at Cupertino the year the iPad came out. I have photo to prove it. I love Apple products and so sad about these scratches. What do we do.

How do I know what? If you mean that Apple doesn't warranty cosmetic issues, it's because many many many have taken their iPhone to Apple and Apple has almost uniformly denied warranty on scratches. And Apple's actual iPhone Warranty specifically excludes cosmetic damage. Glass doesn't scratch by itself. So it just makes sense to spend a few dollars to protect an iPhone screen from scratches by installing a screen protector.

The first one fell 2ft from my pocket onto a carpeted floor and shattered the screen after a few weeks. The second has scratches all over the screen from normal, light daily use (never dropped, tossed in a bag, etc.). Never had such a poor quality device from Apple. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with this phone.

This is why many third-party cases advertise drop protection.

The iPhone 15 series of phones have screens that are no more fragile or subject to scratching than any other premium smartphone.

It's very scratch-resistant.

Rather you chose to slide it into your pocket despite having a screen protector on the way.

I won't even take my phone out of the box without having a screen protector ready to apply, and usually have it done right at the Apple Store when I pick up my phone.

It doesn't matter what phone you had before, all premium smartphones have similar scratch resistance, though at least some Samsungs come with one pre-applied at the factory.

Apple chooses not to charge you for a screen protector that might not meet your needs that you would have to just remove and discard.

1) Screen protectors don't restrict or alter the view except perhaps very minimally and only at certain angles.

2) If even that is too much for you, you are 100% responsible for any damage that occurs.

Independent tests have shown again and again the iPhone 15 screens are no more prone to scratching than those of any other iPhone since at least the iPhone 8, not to mention any other premium smart phone on the market, including Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models.

Personally, I refuse to even do anything other than take my phone out of the box and power it on until a screen protector is applied, and I have the screen protector applied at an Apple Store while it is booting for the first time.
