Apple Watch battery drains super fast after 10.1 update.

Series 7 Apple Watch. After 10.1 update my battery only lasts a few hours. I can literally watch the percentage go down. Rebooted the watch. Shut off background app refresh after advised by a friend. Still drains ridiculously fast. It’s essentially useless now. I’m out of ideas. Anyone else have this problem? This is crazy.

My watch used to last two days, even with me running an hour a day. I no longer run and now it drains faster. I have to put it on the charger overnight and again mid-day. Normally, it takes about an hour to charge. But there are days that it takes up to five hours to hit 100%. I haven’t added anything or changed any settings since I got it almost two years ago.

I’ve had this issue where my watch battery health dropped from 100% to 91%, and it wasn’t charging properly; instead, it was getting hot. I noticed that charging my watch using my Mac significantly improved the situation. It charged fully and lasted for 5 hours. I plan to try uninstalling all third-party apps, although I don’t have MobyFace, so I can only hope for the best.

I updated my watch to the latest OS a couple of days ago. This morning, after being on the charger all night, it was completely dead, very warm, and it will not charge again so there is no way to get in contact with it to do anything like removing apps. I do not have the Mobyface app so that´s not it. This is an issue with the latest update from Apple and now I am wondering how I will be able to fix it - will just have to take it into a store I guess.

If you take it to Apple they will try to charge you the price of a new watch, they aren’t able to repair the watches as they can’t open them up.

can I ask how your charging it? If by the mains, can I suggest using your MacBook as before I removed 3rd party apps this improved the charging a bit. Sounds daft but worth a try instead of asking the 80s used car salesman.

Power off the watch, place it in the fridge or freezer to allow it to cool down. Don't freeze it... Once it's cooled down place back on charger, this will help it get to 100%. Once it's charged power it up and see if it helps. Mine was in that loop for 3 days, until I cooled it down, which allowed it to finally get past 50% charged.

I intentionally put off updating from ios16 to ios17 until ios17.2 in hopes of avoiding any kind of battery drain issues. But here Im stuck in the same boat as everyone else. My watch7 also updated from 9 to 10 last night and its draining at a rediculous rate now. Normally i can go all day and it will only drain to 80%. It’s at 65% now at 1030. No widgets, no always on screen, has the same watch face it came with 2yrs ago. It actually drained 3 percent while being on charge this morning for 30min while I got ready for work! WTF apple!!

Anyone have an update on this? Mine started having these issues a couple months ago as well. I thought Pokémon go was draining my battery faster but in all the years I’ve had that tracking my activity it hasn’t done that. Even turning that off didn’t help. For a couple weeks it seemed like it had resolved itself but with another update it is back to struggling to make it through the day. I’m at 65% battery only 3 hours into my day.
