Why do I have to log in every time I check email on my laptop?

If you are accessing iCloud Mail through a web browser on your PC, it is expected behavior that you would need to sign in each time. You also have the option of setting up iCloud with an email client. This would enable you to access iCloud Mail without needing to sign in every time. Here is some more information about that:
