Seems to be related to external monitor (after reading a bit in the community) but it still happens on sonoma 14.0

Frequent Kernel DCP Panics IOMFB_DRIVER Hi all, mine is a 16 inch m1 macbook 2021, used while connected to an external monitor. The monitor is connected directly via a hdmi cable to the mac, while other peripherals are connected via a usbc dock. The panic happens again and again quite often, several times a day. I use my mac to develop software, listen to music, browsing etc. No stressing is done before failures. The panic report and an etrecheck report is added. The panic generally happens while I am writing some code in intellij idea IDE, or browsing. I was not connecting to a vpn during panics. Note: by OS was up-to-date when panics happened Help is much appreciated.

EXTERNAL MONITOR KERNEL PANIC CRASH ON MACBOOK PRO ON VENTURA 13.2.1 I recently upgraded my 16 inch, 2019, MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz, 8 core Intel core, i9 64 GB, 2667 MHz, DDR4 to Ventura, 13.2.1 since doing so, my external screen ( Philips PHL32E8QJ ) works for about 20 minutes and then shows the green screen of death and causes the MacBook to go into kernel panic mode and shut down. I am running USB C to HDMI cable. I have followed all the usual remedies, but nothing seems to work. If anybody has fixed this issue for sure, please let me know as it’s incredibly annoying Thanks

Frequent Kernel Panics with Thunderbolt Display: iomfb_driver and Iomfb mailbox I'm posting this because I believe I solved the problem and wanted to share my solution for anyone else encountering it. I have an M2 Max Macbook pro running 14.5. I recently added a Dell U4025qw, which runs 120hz 5k2k via thunderbolt. It was causing frequent (sometimes as often as every 10 minutes) kernel panics and upon reboot, the culprit was always iomfb_driver or Iomfb_mailbox. Apple support suggested disconnecting the ethernet cable, which reduced the frequency, but did not solve the problem. Dell said there was no problem and I should try connecting it to a PC. Thanks... not their finest hour. I disconnected everything except the thunderbolt, tried different cables, etc. and problem persisted. TLDR: I eventually found via trial and error that if I disabled VRR, the crashes stopped. I've slowly been reconnecting everything I previously disconnected and have not had another crash. It may also have been necessary to unplug and disconnect the monitor for 30 seconds, but I can't confirm that 100%

DCP is Display Co-Processor

IOMFB is I/O Mobile Frame Buffer

You may have a hardware issue. run the user diagnosatic.

While it doesn't have information on this specific error, for situations such as this, you can follow the steps in If your Mac restarts and a message appears. There are also some troubleshooting steps for external monitors here If your Mac doesn’t recognize an external display.
