I have the iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 16.7.2. I used to have an Apple Watch seven. Then went with a different watch and I missed my seven my husband bought me one today and my iPhone 8 Plus and my Apple Watch seven will not pair up. It says my Apple Watch 8+ is out of date.
Is there anything that can be done about this? If not, what Apple Watch can I use with my iPhone 8 Plus which I love? I don’t want to change it because I rarely use it..

Seems that the problem is my iPhone 8+ can’t be updated to IOS 17. No idea what Apple Watch I can buy now and have it work with my iPhone 8+. Seems sad that the Apple Watch had few years ago worked great with this iPhone 8+.
apple may think they are trying to get people to buy newer products but they are alienating people.

Unpair Apple Watch from the paired iPhone
If you have the paired iPhone, unpair your Apple Watch:
1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap the My Watch tab, then tap All Watches at the top of the screen.
2. Tap the "i" buttonnext to the watch that you want to unpair, then tap Unpair Apple Watch.
3. Tap again to confirm, then wait for the watch to unpair.
4. After Apple Watch unpairs, you can pair again.
