Cannot switch input language with CMD Space

Now I'm running MacOS Sonoma and cannot switch between input languages with the same old shortcut, Command + Spacebar. Instead of switching between input languages like it does in older versions of MacOS, it seems to do Spotlight Search. I switch languages daily, and never use Spotlight Search. (Or if I were to, I would just click the icon anyway.)

Any idea?

Edit: Answering my own question! I watched a tutorial video. Apparently the keyboard shortcut option was editable! It didn't look like it was editable, but all I needed to do was click it. (Yes, click, rather than tap. If anyone is reading this comment in the distant future, we didn't have touchscreen MacBooks at this time.) So the full instructions have been consistent across multiple MacOS versions:

  1. Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts... > Input Sources
  2. Click on the "^ Space" next to one of the options and change it to your desired shortcut (cmd-space) by striking the key combinations here.

Command Spacebar is the baked in Spotlight shortcut, and has been forever...

Switching keyboard languages came first, but I also use keyboard switching daily, while Spotlight is occasionally used as a last ditch effort at finding something.

Also in the keyboard shortcut configuration pane, I have to double click on just the right area to be able to enter edit mode. Like if I click on the descender of "p", or one pixel right of "e" in "Space", nothing happens. So at first I thought it wasn't editable for whatever reason.

Can't tell much from the bit of log there.

It may have something to do with Bluetooth, still looking there.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

And/or...

Interesting, indeed!

If someone had asked me, I would have thought that Command Space had been used for Spotlight since way before that. Not doubting you, just surprised, as Spotlight was introduced in 2006 and it feels like I have been using Command-Space since forever :-)
