Every time I print I get this. Even when I printed this JPG with Preview I get this... This problem started when Sonoma or another update since was installed.

Kind: HP LaserJet Pro M404-M405-AirPrint

Driver version: 3.0

Apple M1

Mac mini M1, 2020

macOS 14.1.1 (23B81)

It doesn't seem to prevent printing, the only problem is the actual warning message. No other problem exists. I click report every time.

Any thoughts?

I went to HP's website and downloaded any possible thing for my "HP LaserJet Pro M404dw". I could not find how to specifically download a new driver, I did download every possible thing. Some of the software installed didn't even open after installed, the mac had a message saying the app was corrupted and had to be moved to trash. I redownloaded it 3 times, same results. Another app was searching for drivers, etc. then said it found nothing automatically and wanted me to return to the page I downloaded the app from, complete circle.

I did also reset the printing system and installed the printer again. Still when printing from any apple app I get the same message, "Print Center quit unexpectedly." If I hadn't just bought a new printer cartridge for printing/making checks for $500, I would be throwing the HP in the trash chute and ordering an Epson. Just the frustration of trying to download stuff from HP. What is the latest driver version? No way to know! I'm not sure what the problem is, but certainly it is clear by searching to solve the problem that HP is terrible, when it comes to simply updating the driver. I have spent at least an hour downloading everything possible.

So, HP has an app to download, in the list of software and drivers to download, that is supposed to give you a list of software and drivers to download but it just tells you to go back to the website to the list of software and drivers to download; a complete circle.

(I should start a new thread for this issue. But since no one understood the reason for this thread anyway, I figured I would put this here. After all, if there was a way to uninstall and reinstall the Print Center Software, I would try that, but it is simply a part of the OS and only an update is likely to fix this problem, if it is actually an Apple problem. Given the issues with HP's software and websites, I tend to think that Apple is not to blame here. ) The Update dates on the two apps I mentioned were 10/31/2023, to add insult to injury.
