can you track movement with airtag

if an AirTag is put in a car and it gets moved can you get notified?

Other than the "left behind" feature is there a way to be notified of it being moved?

No. At least to what I think you are planning to use an AirTag for. The reason is that the tag will need to be within Bluetooth range of another iPhone to send its location information to. In turn, that phone needs an active connection to the Internet to be able to relay that information to the Apple servers. That's where you would "see" it with the Find My app on your iPhone.

Since none of this happens instantaneously, the chance that you would note that the tag has "moved" is not very likely.
