Download an older version of an app

My iPad Air does not download older versions of apps even after it asks to “download the last compatible version” and I select “download” - can you please advise?

I now have a number of apps I can no longer use due to this same issue.

iPad Air, iOS 12

There usually isn't a solution to this issue for downloading apps for depreciated iOS/iPadOS devices if the App Store isn't able to offer a compatible version of the app.

Which generation of iPad Air do you have? Your user profile lists iOS 12, do you mean iPadOS 12? Can your iPad be upgraded to a newer version of iPadOS?
