In my macOS Photos (curr 9.0), many photos from a recent since years are showing up in e.g. „Grünsfeld" even though the GPS data clearly shows the photos were taken far away from Grünsfeld.
So the geotagged location is correct, but Photos seems to be giving the location a wrong name.
I have already reported it to Apple several times, including the necessary system files. Apple urgently needs to catch up here.
Appreciate any help with this.

Dear Marja,
the photos displayed in the layout ("command" "2" = days) after internal image analysis show locations that are determined from the GPS data of your iPhone according to Apple's map data. If you archive GPS-tagged photos from other devices, please check the consistency of the GPS-data. You have no direct influence on the place name linkage and of course you cannot edit it. But you can use Apple's 'Feedback Assistant' App to point out the errors. You can illustrate examples there by uploading screenshots to help Apple recognize the deficits more clearly.
Since this topic is unfortunately not so important to many users, Apple receives little feedback and estimates the error rate to be presumably low.
You can help to change this.

The wrong information is displayed in the daily layout of the media library. Even if all photos of the day were taken at the same place, there are sometimes places that are even located in another state, so definitely wrong. In the single view, however, usually more correct place names are displayed, but sometimes they are collective terms of a region and not tagged village names. The underlying GPS data are accurate to the meter.
Yes, you are right, both for months and days, incorrect names are linked to correct GPS dates. Apple is hopefully working on corrections. Both France and Germany are affected (probably the whole world more or less).
Where is the wrong information being displayed? In the Info window? In a smart album?
In my photo program several photo's have the wrong location name and I do not know how that came about and where can I change it.
The location is displayed under the date if scrolled in "month" .

Not in the info window, there the location is right. But if I go to months in the program a lot of photo’s have a location name of an unknown village right underneath the date. I don’t know how to remove this location.

But what do you mean by "curated" days? I live in Switzerland, so affected as well probably. I'm using a mac sonoma 14.3
Do you have any idea how to correct this or when Apple is going to correct this themselves?
