Sonoma 14.1 Date and time incorrect

Tried terminal reset (immediately updates but then reverts) and reinstalling OS - still reverts to yesterday?

What else can I try?

I entered the following command in Terminal, and that fixed the problem!

sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com

Even though the source time in the Date & Time settings already showed "Apple (time.apple.com.)", it apparently still was using time.apple.com properly. I hope this helps others!

I've manually set the time, and that worked for the day yesterday.

Packed up and went home.

Got back to work this morning and my machine was showing the time that I left the office.

As if I pressed pause on a stopwatch when I closed the MacBook, and then unpaused it when I opened it again 17 hours later.

Added to that, every time I set the time to update automatically the date changes to 22 Aug 2023 and the clock loses 30 minutes.

This happens both when the timezone is set automatically by location, and when it is not.

This must be a bug with how the OS interprets the server time.
