How to embed a splash screen into a video using Final Cut Pro?

Back to the editing table, I discovered that a .jpg will not appear on my time line. Can someone tell me how do I embed a splash screen into a video using FCP please? I thought it was simply a question of drag/drop.

Here is a screen capture:

Yet, the next overlay/jpg appears. Weird, isn't it! Here is my screen view:

Does that jpeg display correctly from the browser?

Please select the problem clip in the timeline, and show us what you see in the Viewer and the Inspector.

Not that it would cause this problem as such, but you seem to be using a smallish jpeg in big 8K project.

I would not recommend doing an 8K 60p project unless most of your content has that big size and frame rate.

You are going to have to work with a much heavier load, and upscaling a lot of smaller material will not produce a great result.

That 15% is the Viewer scale, and not very surprising for an 8K project.

Suppose the OP is editing in a 1080 screen; in order to fit the viewer and the rest of FCP interface, it would need to scale the video down.

The small jpeg would by default be scaled way UP (the default spatial conform is “Fit”, so it would scale to fit the 8K project.

Oops, sorry🙏 It is true that if the default is "Fit", the image will be automatically enlarged. I'm worried about the image quality because the image is too small to edit in 8K.

Precisely...

From the 2 screenshots I just can not see what is the problem . . . they don't show me anything. I don't understand the question.

The first screenshot does not include the Viewer (except for a small sliver). As I understand it, the OP is saying that the jpeg clip under the playhead is not showing in the Viewer.

We need some clarification and more screenshots, I suppose. Probably later, as the OP may be asleep now, if he is on the other side of the Atlantic.

Your problem does appear to be logic defying and without reason so I suggest you invoke the Troubleshooters Quadrinity according to the Oracle of Fincut and perform the following actions one by one strictly in no particular order . . .

Delete the Preferences.

Restart your Mac.

Reimport the Jpeg.

Create a New User Account.

Test your jpeg after each action.
