Finder will not quit or force Quit.

I've tried all the methods I can find:

Open Finder - Apple Icon Force quit
Option+Shift+Command+Esc

Finder still remains open

iMac (2017 – 2020)

Finder taking very long to open and load Finder is taking very long to open/load. Even when I am downloading files from the browser (usually downloading requires finder to confirm save location) it can take more than 5 minutes to open. I've never actually waited more than 5 minutes because I would force quit the app. In the force quit window it does show that finder is not responding. Relaunching after force quit still gives me the same problem. Also tried deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and restarting the computer Now the finder loads a bit faster but still way too slow. Would appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Hey there!

The Finder doesn't quit-it's the only app that stays open at all times on your Mac.

Finder is used for accessing your Mac. It is always open and will Relaunch when Force Quit.
