FCP Color Conform Error

Hi,

I have recently turned off Automatic Color Conform in my settings. But, when I import new footage, the Conversion Type is set to still on with a blue tick in the video inspector? Why is this happening?

Hope you can help.

Many thanks,

The two blue checkboxes have different meanings. After toggling the preferences and reloading the media, the difference between ON and OFF is clear. *Test with HDR

⚫︎Environment settings: HDR: Auto color conform: ON/OFF

This box is used to decide whether to match the color space of the project when importing media.

ON

OFF

After importing media, you can change settings individually

Doesn’t seem to make any difference. It always seems to be on and set to automatic. The only difference I find is if it’s turned on in settings and then you apply a clip that doesn’t need to be conformed in an HDR project it changes the setting from the default Automatic to Manual. That lets you change how you conform it, but otherwise it’s always there, but as the OP said and what I see as well is that having it applied does nothing at all unless the clip needs conforming.

The difference between the flat image and more "colorful" one looks like what one would get by applying a LUT.

At some point, you seem to say that checking and unchecking Color Conform does nothing - and yet you show a flat vs "colorful" image. Where does each come from?

Also, looking back at your screenshot including the Inspector, it seems that you are opening the clip in its own timeline. Is that intentional?

There's no LUT added. The flat image is from the original footage in my folders in the finder. I'm showing the comparison to what it looks like after imported.

The clip is sitting in an event. After import. I then select that image and you can see the color conform button is on. Somehow during import it's adding this colour to the clip.

Thanks for the help guys!
