EDR issues/broken with Sonoma on a non-HDR MacBook Pro Display

2019 16" MacBook Pro

with apple's EDR, my Mac can display HDR/Dolby Vision content and it has always worked very well -

since Sonoma, I don't think it's working at all.

Previously, I could set my display's brightness to exactly 50% and the change to EDR was very noticeable. Ramp up the brightness from 50% when viewing HDR content, you can see the the colors start to wash out which confirms that the HDR content is recognized and the content will only be visibly accurate when the brightness is at or very close to 50%.

I can no longer tell if my Mac is actually recognizing HDR content since updating to Sonoma. I do not visibly see a change to HDR/EDR when setting my brightness to 50%. Ramping up the brightness does not wash out colors, but brightens the image normally (as it does when viewing non-hdr content).

I'm assuming the HDR/EDR is completely disabled. There is no information to whether this feature was removed or re-built with Sonoma and if anyone has more information, please let me know cause it's kind of driving me crazy and is very disruptive when I'm trying to work or even just trying to watch a movie in Dolby Vision (aka I can't even get 10 minutes into the movie I'm currently watching because I'm here on apple support...)
