keyboard stops typing and starts beeping

Have you gone to the Microsoft Word forum with this situation? Is your version of Word the latest update for your hardware and the OS you are running? IF you do not usually shut down your computer, shut it down and restart and sometimes that will clear a mysterious problem.

This problem happens when you press the shift key and control key at the same time and attempt to type a character.

I am having the same issue. Only in my case it's not with an external keyboard, but with the keyboard on the macbook (pro) itself. This is really annoying. Is there no news about this issue?

Exactly the same issue here. Only happens in MS Word, but so frequently (almost every line) that it renders Word unusable. There are no hidden dialog boxes, nor any other notification popups that are interrupting. I'm also not accidentally leaning on the keyboard or mouse while typing. I'm frankly at the point of moving my company off Teams/Exchange etc because we made a policy decision to be a one-ecosystem company and this one broken app threatens the viability of that policy.

No, not necessarily. For me it simply happens when I'm typing mid sentence (neither shift key or control key being pressed).
