is it possible to hire an Apple authorized individual to help me with all Apple devices?

In communicating with Apple Support and Apple Support Communities it has been clear to me that I really do not understand the terminology and concepts. I give up. Is it possible to hire an individual who will help get answers to my questions that I can understand and help fix problems without compromising my Apple Care?

I have iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019, 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB, 40 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, 14.1 (23B74).

I have a iPhone 17.1 iPhone 11 Pro Max.

If more information is required please me know.

Thank you for your kind assistance.

stumpy1946, thank you for your input. There so many problems which arise and it seems to that with each update new problems arise. I am having a very difficult time zoning in on a problem when the system changes.

Is there any one problem? No, there is a plethora of problems I come across and they seem to reproduce with time. I have spent most of my time trying to resolve problems than actually playing with my iMac and iPhone. As I stated before in one of the replies I may not have what it takes to use Apple devices. I am not able to keep up.

I have read "Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question" by John Galt before. Very insightful and well written. It has indeed been updated. In this scholarly paper I read this: "Authorized Apple technical support is available through AppleCare representatives, Apple Retail Store associates, or Authorized Apple Service Providers. None of them participate on this site. To obtain support directly from Apple, start with the Support link at the bottom of this web page". I may be growing blind or it is late, but I did not see "Support" at the end of the web page.

Maybe trying to find what the problem is so as to state the problem is my problem. Maybe my communication skills require more honing. Making excuses won't solve the problem as well.

It would be great to be able to isolate myself distinct from problems of life be they family, financial, political, etc. At this time it is not possible.

Tomorrow is a new day. Thank you everyone for your assistance and guidance.

I think I understand the issues you're facing, as many years ago my father faced the same ones, and ended up getting a "private Mac tutor" that helped him tremendously.

The problems some users face is that they're looking for a "cookbook recipe" list of step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish various tasks on their Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. And sometimes these step-by-step instructions can lead to a better understanding of how these devices work together, and why things happen the way they do. But often times it leads to frustration, as soon as something they want to do isn't listed in their "cookbook".

So I can offer the following suggestions:

  • If you are someone who can learn from books, there are several books available on Amazon that would help.
    • This one: How To Use Your Mac
    • And there are plenty of others. I would caution you to stay away from any books that are more than a couple of years old, though, as you're liable to get confused when the illustrations from an earlier MacOS version don't match what you see on your iMac.
  • Do a Google search for used Mac resellers near you. Give them a call and see if any might be interested in providing private lessons.
  • The next time you're at the Apple Store, find out of any of the employees would be interested in providing private lessons in their spare time.

If you could fully describe a recent issue with your device(s), I might be able to offer better guidance. (And you didn't say if you've used Windows computers in the past and are having trouble learning how to do the same things on a Mac, or if you've never used a computer before).

Hopefully, you'll find the help you need.

Hello, Don_What.

I understand you are trying to find assistance with using your iMac and your iPhone, but having little success.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but as I read your responses here I gather that you are of an age where this technology has you more than a little befuddled. I understand this is frustrating when all you want to do is sit down and use the tools at hand.

You are obviously willing to reach out for help in this community, and that's a good step in the right direction. I suspect you can find assistance right there close to you, in your circle of family and friends. Reach out to those closest to you and find out who among them has any experience with Mac computers, or even computers in general. I would be surprised if you don't know any younger person who can help you. This could be a neighbor next door, or the son or daughter of a neighbor or friend.

In my little world, I have been the IT department for my family and friends, especially for my parents and my grands. And of course, my own kids are of a generation that absolutely can run circles around me when it comes to taking advantage of tech.

So check with those around you and ask them for assistance. Even if they themselves don't have the knowing, they may be able to help guide you in the right direction and help you find the answers you need.

Of course you can always post here for answers, too. When you do, please start your post by telling us what device the problem is with - 2019 iMac Retina 27" is enough, or iPhone 11 Pro Max. With that info and the OS version - macOS 11 Big Sur (iMac)... or iOS 17.1 (for the iPhone) - and we can begin to offer specific assistance.

Also, please understand that these Communities are staffed by volunteers who are all just end users like yourself with many levels of experience in all things Apple. Responses will be forthcoming as folks find time to sit down and respond to posts that strike them. So sometimes a little patience is required.

Try to state you questions clearly while being specific about what you are trying to accomplish, the actions you have taken and any error messages that you encounter as you try to work through something. To say that something "didn't work" gives us little to go on. Remember, we can't look over your shoulder here.

Good luck, my friend. 🍀

Carry on! 🙂

Thank you hcsitas for your suggestions. I have had many Genius Bar appointments which failed fruition. It may well be my understanding of suggestions and concepts that Genius Bar reps have given me. The Genius Bar I have gone to is very loud and I have hearing problems already.

As for technical details on any problems I do not know what they are or mean. Plus there is limited time to ask questions. It seems that questions are not understandable or off the mark.

I tried the Apple Communities first thinking someone might have a suggestion that matches my needs, that is to explain things I do not understand when I have problems in a quiet and calm environment. As it now the problems are snowballing. I am thinking that maybe I should not even be using any Apple devices. I just want to get on an iMac and just do what I like to do with emails, messages, exploring subjects I am interested in on the internet, and many other things and when problems arise there is someone who can explain and resolve the problem in calm professional manner. This is not knocking Apple Communities and Apple Support reps.

As you said Apple Communities is not a place to hire tutors. I had to start somewhere.

Thank you BDAqua for your reply. I have followed many volunteers communicating with questioners like with yourself. I try those solutions for problems I have. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Many times such solutions are above my head.

The problem I have with sending a question I have to the community is the form of the question and what information is best to supply with my questions.

I have no idea what AASPs are so I looked it up on Wikipedia, "Apple certification programs are IT professional certifications for Apple Inc. products". The way I read that it is more for professionals working for Apple, Inc. Please correct me if I misread.

I have attended Apple classes starting with to One to One years ago. I liked that program. I had about an hour to ask questions and receive explanations to my learning level in a quiet environment. I have also attended a few classes at an Apple Store but it was noisy and I have hearing problems already.

I did click your suggestion of Find Locations - Apple (IN) and I got stuck right away:

Service & Support

Apple Stores, Apple Authorized Service Providers and Online Support

Back to Home

Enter Location, City or Zipcode

**My entry was first my zipcode then a product (Mac)

This was the results:**

Error:

Please enter a valid address, city or postal code

Select a productiPhoneMaciPadApple WatchApple Watch EditionApple TVHomePodiPodBeatsAirPodsSelect a product

Reset

I tried my city and state with the same results. There may be something I am doing incorrectly there. I dunno.

As for your third suggestion I will wait till I find out what I am doing incorrectly with your suggestions and advice.

Thank you for your time and efforts.
