iPhone SE2 drops call when Hide Keyboard selected

When I'm on a phone call with an answering machine that requires keyboard input, and want to change from iPhone to speaker, I press "Hide Keyboard" and the call immediately disconnects. I have tried a hard reset to no avail. iOS 17.1.

end of call switches to speaker?!?! Anytime I end a regular phone call, the little sound it plays at the end switches to speaker so everyone around me can hear I just got off a call. It's always hung up quietly, idk how to change this! please help! *i have an iphone 13
