filtering text messages

Hello, I've been looking for a way to filter out certain people on iMessages / text messages on iPhone.

I haven't found any way to do this. they have this thing "filter unknown senders" or you can actually block a specific person. but what if you don't want to block someone, but you do in fact know them. say you have a friend or a family member who just won't stop texting you. if they are controlling, needy, etc. you just want space from them. but you still want to talk to other people without scrolling past their messages. it would be nice to just "filter" some of these specific people into a separate area or category. i don't actually want to go so far as to block them from my phone, i will in fact need to contact them later at some point in a week or in a month. i've actually had to block members of my own family. and it seems kind of rude to do this to friends too. it seems like a simple thing, to have a "filter", but it's strange there is no option for this.
