Clearing up some junk memory. CleanMyMac? (and TimeMachine)

Hi everyone.

I wanted to clean up some old junk taking up memory before running a backup to time machine as I'll be using it to move over to a new MacBook.

I have gone over articles on gaining memory and now I'm wondering if anyone has used CleanMyMac to go a little further than I've been able to clean. Any input or preferences.

I think I've cleaned all the main memory users but maybe you've found some other methods worth trying.

*Also, is there anything I should expect time machine to not move over and I should take care of in advance?

(I am not going to have the old computer at the same time as the new one so I will down to my external hard drive only).

Thanks so much!!

I would strongly advise against installing CleanMyMac, as it's almost certainly going to create issues.

I would also advise you to review this Apple Support article prior to letting your old Mac go: What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support

Failure to perform the steps in the above link could well result in your old Mac being nothing more than a "brick" for the new user...or preventing you from being able to properly set up your new Mac when you get it.

Hope this helps.
