AppleCare is associated with the device once you add that coverage. AppleCare specialists can remove the coverage from the device and once they do that, it cannot be re-added at a later date. They may send a text message to your phone that you must confirm before proceeding.
You may be entitled to a prorated refund of the unused coverage. 1-800-APLCARE (275-2273).
