If your Mac hardware is not on this list, you won't be upgrading to Sonoma. I suggest that you run the free Go64 application on Mojave and see the list of 32-bit applications, libraries and other dependencies before you consider any operating system upgrade beyond Mojave. None will support 32-bit applications, plug-ins, libraries, or printer/scanner drivers.

Depends. If you have any 32 bit apps you're still using (Office 2011 as an example), they will stop working and need to be upgraded or replaced.
