I purchased a new iMac and attached my iPod classic to download all my music to iTunes. The music did not download and all my music from my iPod has disappeared completely. Can anyone help with being able to recover these files. My music was not saved nor downloaded to my new iMac.
Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Neither iTunes nor Finder* have a method to import from an iPod. However, since the only method for adding music to an iPod Classic is via iTunes, then your music should still be in the iTunes Library (your iTunes) that you used to add the music originally.
* New Macs do not have iTunes. Instead, use Finder to manage devices.
If you don't have your old library anymore, did you ever make a backup of your music? If so, use that to rebuild your library.

Your music remains in your iTunes library on your old device. Music syncs from your computer to your iPod, not the other way around. You can copy and transfer your music library to your new computer to restore your sync on your iPod
