Desktop files missing after migration assistant transfer from old mac to new mac??

I just transferred all my data from my old MacBook Air to my new one. Everything transferred perfectly so I wiped my old mac. Then realized that actually, my desktop files are missing. Any hope those transferred somewhere and I can relocate them??

MacBook Air, macOS 14.1

Have you checked within the files stored in iCloud?

Not sure how to do that or where they would be in iCloud. I looked in "iCloud" Desktop file on my new computer, but there is nothing there...is there another place to check?
