I don’t have Double Tap option In Gestures at all, only Cover to mute. Apple Watch Ultra updated to 10.1 iPhone updated to the latest OS also.

The new double tap feature is limited to the Series 9 and the Ultra 2 Watches. Only they have the hardware to recognize the tap.

A similar feature can be activated in older Watches as an Assistive Touch function of those watches.

I have fixed the problem for my watch, it turns out that the watch had not updated to 10.2. Despite manually setting up the update on the watch for some reason it did not happen. Once I updated the watch and then restarted both watch and iPhone the gestures menu appeared on both the watch under settings and double tap also appeared as an option on the gestures menu on the iPhone watch app. I suggest double checking that the watch has updated.

I’m assuming it’s an update glitch. I had to add it through accessibility as well.

Have you updated this new watch to the most recent version of watchOS? The newest is watchOS 10.2.

Apple's instructions regarding double tap on Series 9 and Ultra 2 only mention setting it up on the watch.

First, go to Settings > Accessibility > Assistive Touch, and then you can set up your Assistive Touch settings including Double Tap.

For those who have the Ultra 2 but cannot find the double tap gesture, follow these instructions:

• From your iPhone, open the Watch App
• Scroll to select Gestures
• Set Double Tap to On.

Now this seems to be the important part - Tap Back at the top, left of the screen to save your preference. I hope this helps.

In Apple Support’s article on setting up Double Tap, it gives instructions for setting it up on the watch, but also says this, “You can also open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, go to Settings > Gestures, then tap Double Tap.”

So it odd that it has been omitted on the phone app.

Try using Accessabilty>assistive touch> Hand gestures

I have just received a series 9 and I am having the same problem. The “Gestures” option is not available under the settings menu on the watch. It is available on the watch app on my phone, but the only option is “cover to mute”. The double tap feature does not work on the watch.

Both my watch and phone app (and phone) are updated to the most recent OS, yet the phone app still doesn’t have Double Tap listed under Gestures. I can access it through the settings on my watch itself, though. Not sure why the app is missing this option.

Both my Watch series 9 and iPhone have been updated to the latest versions. I still don’t see double tap under gestures on my phone. It is not working on my watch, although I do see it in the settings there.

I’m having the same issue with the Ultra 2. I do not see the option for double tap. Please help!

I have the ultra2 and the gestures option is not on mine either.

I have an Apple Watch 9 and although the double tap feature works, I don’t have the option listed under gestures in my app either, so I can’t customize.
