Apps clear to the side when mouse clicks edge of screen

Hi community,

I want to disable this function which somehow turned on after installing Sonoma 14.1. When I move my mouse to any edge of the screen (left/ right/ top/ bottom) and I click, all the apps that are open clear to the sides. I want to disable this!

I am working on a iMac Pro.

I read online that I need to lock screen but I don't see any options to disable this! Would appreciate any help out there!

iMac Pro, macOS 14.1

that border will appear any time you click on an empty spot on your desktop. it will move open apps beyond that border, so you can see your desktop items. if you want to stop it from appearing, you can go into System Settings > Desktop & Dock and in the Desktop & Stage Manager section, set "Click wallpaper to reveal desktop" to "Only in Stage Manager"

but I don't use stage manager, so I don't know what happens with stage manager when set that way.
