How does Duolingo Math know my email?

On my iPhone, I have pretty much every privacy setting on. I have the Duolingo app with a subscription. The other day, I downloaded Duolingo Math and it knew my email address. Are apps allow to share data like that? Does this mean any of my apps might be leaking personal information to other apps on my phone, or is this just because Duolingo owns both apps and therefore can access the same data?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

A Quick Look at the info on the app page in the App Store gives you these info before you download. This is visible before downloading the app but again, this is info a lot of people don’t bother to look at. Here are screenshots I was able to take just by looking at the app details in the App Store for Duolingo Math. Like I said….it’s a good idea to look at all info before choosing to move forward with a download to make sure you are comfortable.

Since you downloaded an app that is clearly owned by the same company (Duolingo) and you already do business with them they are absolutely allowed to and able to share info. Take a look at the terms you agreed to when you set up an account with Duolingo and virtually any other company. It’s not “leaking” your info at all. It might be a good idea to thoroughly read terms and conditions before choosing to move forward with downloading any app or signing up for anything so you won’t be surprised by things like this or don’t unknowingly agree to anything that makes you uncomfortable. Unfortunately most people don’t read it because it can be extremely long but once you accept the terms you imply that you did read and understand.
