Can't get MacBook Pro M2 recognise old camcorder (DV/iLink out -> FW 4-pin -> FW 9-pin -> Thunderbolt -> Thunderbolt 3 -> MBP)
Hi.
I have a post on this on reddit here. Can you guys try to help me? How can I get my MacBook to recognise this camcorder?
It seems that the cables are OK as everytime I hook it up to the macbook, a symbol shows up on the camcorder lcd (DV out, iLink). When I disconnect the cable the symbol disappears from the camcorder's lcd. So it seems the camcorder recognises the connections. But not the Macbook. I am now on the latest MacOS. This is my post over at reddit:

Hi!
I've found my old Sony DCR-1000 MiniDV camcorder and lots of old movies which I want to digitize. I invested in a bunch of adapters and cables, but can't get it to work. I've read it is supposed to work, but not specifically with Ventura (latest MacOS).
When plugging in the camcorder via the adapters to my Mac, a new symbol appears on the camcorder (miniDV OUT) which tells me it detects that it is connected to the Mac. But nothing happens on the Mac, no sound, no new devices in FinalCutPro, iMove or QuickTime. I've also checked in system preferences, and it does not seem like the OS detects the camcorder being connected.
Any suggestions how to get this to work? Latest version on software (MacOS, FCPx etc.).
Connection from camcorder to Mac is as follows:
MiniDV camcorder (Sony DCR-1000) wiwth 4-pin FW out ---> 4-pin FW -> 6-pin FW ---> Apple Thunderbolt -> ThunderBolt 2 adapter ---> Apple Thunderbolt 2 -> TB3 adapter. Attached to usb-c in MacBook Pro M2 max.
Thank you for helping out, and please let me know if this belongs in a different forum!
