how to use apple maps

This question is regarding Apple Maps in my vehicle.

I have a new vehicle that gives me three navigation options:

1. Apple Maps via Apple CarPlay
2. Google Maps via Apple CarPlay
3. in-dash GPS system

Apple Maps responds to voice recognition while I am driving, but showed me several flaws lately, one being directing me in circles and not knowing the difference between Sheldon Boulevard and Sheldon Road, which are both in the same town. With Apple Maps I would have never made it there.

For Google Play I have to enter the destination manually in my phone, then it will show on the dashboard and gives me directions, but it does not react to voice recognition.

For the dash-in navigation I have to type the destination in on the dashboard, it does not react to voice recognition, but it does not work at all when CarPlay is active.

Now to my problem: Occasionally I use voice recognition (IK guess it is Siri) to get directions via Apple Maps, it usually finds my destination, sometimes I want to cancel the directions, what to I tell the voice recognition?

I have tried "end directions" - response "to where?"

I have tried 'cancel navigation" - response "I don't know where"

Today It tried (instead of canceling) something different and said "change directions to home" to direct me to some town names "Shins" in Florida. I am living in NOE Ohio, USA. At my second attempt it said "to where".

My home location is programmed!

HELP! What am I supposed to say to end a navigation?
