imessage glitchy

everytime i delete a certain conversation on my imessage it just makes my imessage glitch. when i go back onto imessage the screen is all black and after about 30 seconds it’ll send me back to my home screen. only way to make my messages work again is restarting my phone.

I delete the conversation, exit the app, and then can’t get back into the app. All it shows me is a black screen. If I restart my phone, the conversation is back as if it wasn’t deleted. Messages app glitching and crashing after deleting large conversation Hello, I have a very large conversation, almost 3 years worth of texts everyday, that I would like to delete. Whenever I delete it, It works fine, but then i go to check "recently deleted messages" and it is not there. After that I swipe out of the app and It does not allow me to reopen the messages app, I press the app and it just shows a black screen. The only way i found to fix this is restarting my phone, but when I restart it and open messages, the chat reappears there, undeleted. Any way to fix this and delete the chat? It takes up sooo much storage.

iMessage locking up iOS 16.3.1 In the past 4 weeks my iMessage has been locking up. If I force quit (swipe up and up again) then shut down my iPhone 12 Pro and restart, iMessage will work again but never more than 10 minutes or so. The only think I know of that has changed is I installed Wreckfest racing game - but I deleted it and restarted again and iMessage still locks up. I will usually let me go into the conversations but when I click on the text area to type, it locks up. In 30 seconds it crashes out to the home screen. By 'locks up' I mean the iMessage app only. I can swipe up and use the phone as normal but iMessage isn't working. Is there a way to clear the cache or is this an issue that might require a complete wipe and restore? It's to the point where I can't really use the phone anymore for business use.
