Backspace button not responsive sometimes

I just got my brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max in the mail yesterday. After using it for over 24 hours now, I have noticed that my backspace key is unresponsive sometimes. For example, for a 10 letter word, I will sometimes have to tap the backspace key 15 times just to delete the word. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue? Is there something I can do to fix it? I have restarted my phone, checked out my setting, contacted apple support (they told me to take my phone to an Apple Store to let a technician look it it but I don’t live anywhere near one). Note: the backspace key works when I hold it in, it just seems to be the tapping of it that is the issue.
