Messages Goes Through Failed-To-Send Periods. WtF!?

My iPhone 13 (running iOS 17.0.3) sends dozens of text messages daily - to Androids and iPhones - with and without attachments without any problems whatsoever. Great! However, then, randomly out of the blue, it just goes

"Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered", "Failed to Send" and/or "Not Delivered"... for a few hours or a few days.

WHAT the **** is up with this!?

I would actually be less upset about this glitch if I happened more regularly, but this everything-works-great-and-and-you-can-count-on-Apple!.. until you can't, makes me want to set fire to all of my Apple products and go Windows or Chromebook or Android.

I've seen this in my own case, and each time it was because the user phone was off. I have a friend 6 times zones away, and I see this if I send her a text and she's turned off her phone.

If I may, don't be so quick to blame Apple - there are so many pieces and user settings between you and other receipients. There can be many many reasons such as settings by other users, and it's getting exponentially more complex each day. If you want to blame any one, it's free non-standardizing industry approach. Eveyrone has their own territory and don't want to share. Apple if anything has standardized their own and it works wonderfully.

I'd be curious (you can do this on your own if you want) what devices (receiving for those you send text) are being used on the other end? Are they individuals you know, or text services? You might see a pattern to help ease your confidence.

I can tell you after my using both Apple and Windows for over 25 yrs, I went strictly to all Apple and never looked back. The biggest key is to NOT mix the two. The biggest problems (you'll see on these forums a lot) people want to blend gmail, google with Apple and expect them to work flawlessly, the same. They don't. They agree to work, but it won't be flawless. Things can break between them too - more easily with everyone doing more security updates. i got rid of any all gmail, chrome, or any google ANYTHING and haven't had any problems. I have one Apple ID and dedicated Apple M devices (no Intel legacy chips). That's pretty much a physics rule that like works best with like. It's something to plan and try yourself if you haven't already.

But as far as who your texts, you can't control what others use. I have the most issue with those who have Android. They likewise have trouble with Apple - which lends to my earlier comment that mixing we hope for the best, and be prepared for when things break.

Here's an example: In the past 24 hours, I've been negotiating and facilitating a car purchase with a dealer. Salesperson happens to be using Android. First 25-30 messages sent just fine. After a few hours of this, attachments randomly Failed to Send. Started up early this AM, and things were going just fine. After maybe 20 messages, 90% would fail. This has been the pattern for my iPhone for the past few years. To/from Android or iPhone or Mac or iPad - didn't matter. Mostly worked great for weeks or months, then mostly glitches for a few hours or few days. I can find plenty of description of same problems online.

I've been using computers for 40+ years. Yikes! Starting with BASIC, then MS-DOS, Windows, Linux... MacOS and iOS (for about the past decade).
