Nba league pass not working on my macbook

Hello everyone,

I bought a new macbook air m2 this week. This is my first Mac OS experience and everything was fine, but when I logged into Nba League Pass to watch NBA games, I realized that I could not watch the games. It keeps giving me an error like I'm logging out of the site. It says subscribe or sign in but I already have an NBA league pass premium account. I added the screenshot below. Sometimes it gives this error and sometimes it gives the error like I'm logging out of the site.

I updated my macbook to the latest version, I tried on Safari and Firefox but nothing has changed.

I will be grateful if you could help me, thanks.

MacBook Air, macOS 14.1

Do you have access to see if it will work on another device (ipad or phone app)?

Have you looked at your browser settings - Websites, and also Privacy? They would want to see your general location, not using a private browser setting. You might have to experinent with the settings, refresh the browser (dump the history each time), and see what works. It could be your defaults are too restrictive. I have a couple of trusted websites that won't work unless I open up to allow them a few things.

1) Suggest turning off "Content Blockers" to start. That seems to be one that resolves many problems I've encountered. YOu can make it specific to just the NBA site. Open up the NBA page that doesn't work, and then open up Safari>Settings. Click on the Websites tab. From then on left look for Content Blocker and on right the default is usually to not allow.

2) Next, in same Safari Settings window, scroll down on left frame to "pop up windows". NBA sounds like it would love to give you lots of goodies for you to see in addition to the content you watch, so it may require you to Allow popups. Again, this is just for that website.

3) Next go to a different tab in Safari Settings > Privacy. Try each of these one at a time...

-Uncheck Cross site tracking. that's a common hang up when a site runs ads or has a lot of streaming content.

-next, toggle the Hide IP Address from the default, to "Trackers only".

You easily switch all this back later on if you choose.

Hey macandrew1;

Actually, changing the DNS was not a permanent solution and two days later I started getting the same error again. I wrote to NBA support on Twitter. After long correspondence, they decided that there was a problem with my account. They said, sign up with a new e-mail address and we will give you a promotional code so you can watch with it. I did what they said and nba league pass works perfectly. They also closed my old account.

Hello everyone. I solved the problem.

Let me explain for those who have a similar problem.

I was having this problem with my home wireless internet. When I connected to the internet on my mobile phone, I was able to watch the NBA broadcast on my Macbook.

So I changed my DNS settings and the problem was solved.

Thanks again everyone.

When I try to watch game recap from nba.com, a 2 minute video is played. However, as soon as I select the full game video, it gives me the login error again(subscribe, sign in or select tv provider screen). There is no problem with the video player, it is a purely systemic limitation. I am reporting this to nba.com right now.

Is there anyone among us who watches NBA League Pass on a Macbook? It would be nice to compare settings.

Welcome

Sorry can not answer your question directly 🇨🇦

I can illustrate from personal experience using the M2 MBA Sonoma 14.1

While travelling abroad to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Asia and other locations.

Though I have a subscription to Netflix ( example only ) and log into their site to stream Netflix it works.

But, some of the Titles I get back in Canada are just Not Available in those locations

It comes down to Broadcast Rights that are dependent on your IP Address, that Netflix sees as my Physical Location.

That is probably why they suggest using a VPN to mask your real location

Though, better Streaming Services have already picked up on this Masking and will still Block the service

Why your Android TV etc does work - sorry no answer as I do not use Android Box or Samsung Phone

NBA League Pass uses your IP address to determine your location.

As such, when a local or national broadcaster has the exclusive rights to televise a game live, you may find the game blacked out on NBA League Pass.

This is where changing your IP address with a VPN comes in useful

Personally I tend to keep away from Commercial VPNs

They like any Business are out to make $$ and this may include Harvesting your Personal Information like Credit Card Information

Then selling what Data they have Harvested to Others to help their bottom-line

Don't use VPN services.

Hello MsPamelaM2; First of all, thank you for your very detailed explanation.

I implemented what you said. I deleted all history in Safari. then I granted location permission to nba.com. I turned off content blockers, allowed pop-ups. And I made the settings you mentioned in the privacy tab. but I still couldn't succeed.

I don't have access to another ipad or iPhone the only Apple device I use is a Macbook. but we tried my nba account on my friend's ipad and it works in the app and safari.

Really thank you for your time.

Hey P. Philips, Thank you for your answer.

But I'm not in the USA. I live in Turkey and 1, sometimes 2 games a night are broadcast here. Also, I can't watch the games on my Macbook that I can watch on my Android TV or Samsung phone via NBA League Pass.

Since I have an NBA league pass Turkey account, I don't need to use VPN anyway, I am in Turkey.

Thanks for the warning though.

PS: I forwarded my account information to a friend of mine who uses a Macbook and he also gets the same error.
