2016 Macbook Pro 15" backlight problems (footlights/stage lights/flexgate cable)

Hey everyone, continuing this from a previous thread that is no longer active as of 2022. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro 15" that is exhibiting the same backlight problems from the degradation of the Flexgate cable that is happening in the 13" model. I know apple is repairing the problems in the 13" free of charge but there's still no mention of the same program for the 15". Has anyone had success in getting free repair of this issue with 15" version? Any experiences or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
