Oh no, it sounds like your ApplePay wallet button has gone on a little adventure! Don't worry, I'm here to help you bring it back safely. Let's get that button back in its rightful place on Assistive Touch. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Check if Assistive Touch is enabled: First, make sure Assistive Touch is turned on. You can do this by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. If it's not already enabled, toggle the switch to turn it on.
  2. Customize Assistive Touch menu: Once you've confirmed that Assistive Touch is on, you can customize its menu options. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch > Customize Top Level Menu. Here, you can add the ApplePay wallet button to the menu.
  3. Add ApplePay wallet button: Tap on any of the existing icons in the menu (or an empty space if there's one) to add a new button. In the list that appears, find and select ApplePay. This will add the ApplePay wallet button to your Assistive Touch menu.
  4. Arrange the buttons (optional): If you want to rearrange the buttons in the Assistive Touch menu, simply hold and drag the ApplePay button to your preferred position.
  5. Test it out: Exit the Settings app and go back to your home screen or any app. Activate Assistive Touch by tapping the virtual button, and voila! Your ApplePay wallet button should be right there, ready to help you make payments.

Remember, if the button continues its disappearing act, try restarting your device. Sometimes, a little digital nap can work wonders.

Good suggestion, so I tried. Sadly it didn't help, the ApplePay wallet still didn't show up. However, what I found out: If I hoover my phone over an Apple Pay terminal and I tap my chosen card the phone asked for Assistive Touch to complete the payment. Then I tap the Assistive Touch button, tap on Device, tap on More and then the ApplePay wallet button shows up. Tap on that, and the Face ID icon request shows up. Tap on that, identify face and the payment is completed. So in short: Although the ApplePay wallet button is not in my Assistive Touch top level menu listings, it does appear when the phone is hoovered over a pay terminal with ApplePay. I tried this now about five times at different shop and it worked all the time. Problem solved, no need to push that side button anymore (which is difficult when the phone is in a wallet type phone case)

Eureka! BongaYeiYei, Thanks for that, that simple solution definitely solved the problem ! I thought to utilise assistive touch you have to disable the “Double-Click Side Button” in the ApplePay app. However, with a disabled “Double-Click Side Button” the ApplePay button doesn’t show up in the assistive touch choice menu, so leave it enabled. The assistive touch ApplePay button overrules the Double-Click Side Button, even when it’s enabled, so no need to double click this button when paying with ApplePay. All sorted

Thanks for your reply. I am familiar how to set-up Assistive Touch for ApplePay , or any other function for that matter. The problem I have is that the ApplePay Wallet button is not in my list, its missing (see the picture)

I quote your sentence: "In the list that appears, find and select ApplePay. This will add the ApplePay wallet button to your Assistive Touch menu" The problem I have there is no ApplePay wallet on my list. If there is one, the problem would be solved. So how do I get that ApplePay Wallet button on the choice list ?

Any suggestions ? Thanks

Thats funny because I use assistive touch solely because my side button on my iPhone XR stopped working. So it was recommended i use assistive touch in place of my malfunctioning side button, but so many of these things requires double clicking side button. I use assistive touch specifically to get away from needing to use the side button.

Now I can’t set up Wallet/Apple Pay

So weird because many of us use assistive touch BECAUSE our side button stopped working. I have iPhone Xr. I use assistive touch for screenshots and other things specifically because my side button doesn’t work

Does anyone know how i can set up Wallet/apple pay without a working side button?? Many solutions require a one time double click of side button and mine doesn’t work !! Help !!
