After updating to Sonoma 14.0 my Onedrive stopped synchronizing

After updating to Sonoma 14.0 my Onedrive stopped synchronizing. I already removed it several x, re-installed the App from MS but also from the Apple Store. Initially it looks ok but then comes the error. I complained several X. Very disappointing.

Only a couple of days ago I may have incidentally sorted it out! In one of the many attempts to reset and re-start Onedrive I forgot to direct the App to the usual folder (that was in an external driver). So, instead it created and synchronised with a new folder in the internal disc. Since then it's working fine! Explanations? It beats me! Some internal bug in the previous folder path?

Thank you for comments and suggestions. For quite sometime I have sync'd Onedrive with my PC laptop and MAC desktop without any problem. The issue occurred when I updated the MAC OS. However, recently something interesting happened: in my n+1 attempt to re-install Onedrive in the Mac, I overlooked the suggested folder (I had it in an external drive) and it created a new folder in the internal drive. Since then it's working again. Reason??? I am not sure if there was any bug in the direction to the external drive or the new MAC OS has some sort of filter, but for the time being I don't care. I just use it as before.

Best is to uninstall OneDrive app from your Mac, and upload/download whatever you want from the OneDrive web page. That's what I did.

OneDrive app installed in your Mac will continue to sync every few minutes and disturb you using your Mac. Also, there's no guarantee that the OneDrive app is up to date with Sonoma. It is a 3rd party app.

I am having the same issue. It is very frustrating. I don't believe that it has synced one single time since upgrading to Somona. The issue persists after updating to Sonoma 14.1.1. While the OneDrive status screen indicates that all files are synced - they certainly are not - with "upload" error icons coming up for each of the new files that I have attempted to add to OneDrive. After a few minutes of starting the program I will get the error message "You must restart OneDrive to continue syncing this location." I have removed the App and re-installed several times but with no change. I have "reset" the App multiple times (per MS Support Page suggestions) but with no change. This is extremely frustrating and disruptive to my work. I check daily with MS Support - but no updates there or any further insight as to how to solve the problem. (It was working fine and pretty solid before upgrading to Sonoma.)

I right-clicked the folder that I want to store in external drive (offline) - Always keep on this device. Then I got the above pic - stated not allow to save with permission.

I am not quite understand actually. Last time I am ok to do that after I formatted the External HD, the files can be downloaded from OneDrive and store the content in the external drive but this time.

seems there are something conflicted

solution for that??

I really did not understand: how to make the external HD to a non-ejectable type?

The external HD can be ejected anytime I want as I used it as the OneDrive offline storage before my Mac had not yet upgraded to Sonoma

Now, when every time I right clicked "Always Keep on This Device" It prompted me that I don't have the permission to do the downloading as the above pic stated.

Any solution please.

Thanks in advance

I suppose that's Windows advice. Even though I used, and still have a Windows laptop, I don't trust them. I have some data in OneDrive, but I don't sync my Mac with it. Now, if the OneDrive account is yours, you can download anything from it, and save them to any place you want. If Microsoft One Drive won't allow you to download whatever that's yours from it to your external drive, then download it to your internal drive, and then copy that to the external drive. Find a way out than fighting them.
