Utility "pstopdf" removed from Mac OS Sonoma - needed for critical applications

pstopdf utility has been removed from Mac OS Sonoma. I have relied on this utility nearly 30 years starting with NeXTstep. Why remove it?

Is there an alternative to perform Postscript to PDF conversion?

Homebrew does not include it.

Thanks

Mac mini, macOS 14.0

I installed Ghostscript (and Groff) via homebrew. With Ghostscript you get utilities such as ps2pdf*. I also have the full MacTeX 2023 distribution and with it comes TeXShop that still opens .e/ps files since it too uses Ghostscript.

Inkscape v1.30 has a command-line component that does PS to PDF (and other formats too). The -T is converting text to path.

inkscape -o circ.pdf --export-type=pdf -T circular.ps
