When I click on the Apple icon to select "Shut Down" (for example) I do not get a list, but a box with one selection and a up and down arrow. But when you try to move to another selection it moves so fast I only get the one I want by chance. This has also happened with the "Go" selection.
All this be gan after the upgrade to Sonoma 14.0.

The current stable release of Sonoma including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 14.1.1 —I would start there.
