How to stop calendars from sharing / syncing with other family members

I have Apple Family set up and it is shared with another adult and two children- everybody has their own Apple ID. Previously neither of the children had access to the calendar/mail app. I recently set up the oldest child with the mail and calendar. When I went into his calendar he not only had the ‘Family’ calendar (as expected) but he also had all of my personal calendars showing.

I deleted them from his device and this didn’t seem to impact the calendars showing on my side. I then went and updated some of the family calendar items from my device, but these changes didn’t sync over to his device. More recently I noticed that when he created a new calendar of his own from his device, it came over and is now showing on my device.

Can anyone help with this? I can’t seem to fix it. know it sounds like we might be sharing an account, but that’s not the case. He is set up under my family, but he has his own Apple ID/Child account, recently got a brand new iPhone (not an old one that used to belong to me), and everything is set under his account. I don’t like the idea of my calendars and events re-popping up on his device, and I also feel that any calendar he creates should be private and his items shouldn’t be syncing over to me.

Sounds like his device is logged in to your account for iCloud, and not his. That is the only way this can happen.

Check the email address under the name in Settings ➜ Apple ID. If its not his account, then you need to sign out, and sign in with his.

That's the way it should work yes.

There is no way for him to see your Calendars or you to see his, unless the same Apple ID is in play somewhere. Or was at some point, and the Calendars remained for some odd reason.

Since you mention you deleted them from his device and it did not impact yours, one can also assume the same Apple ID is not being used. But at some point it had to be used to link the Calendars. Either that or you shared your calendars and he subscribed to them for whatever reason.

If you go into the Family entry in Settings on his device does it appear as himself, or as the You / The Organizer?
