I am using Apple watch series 9. I am trying to add cards to my wallet. It keeps popping up a message that says passcode is needed for Apple Pay. But I already set up a passcode. I am also using the latest versions of IOS and watchOs.

I finished setting up my apple watch series 9. I added a passcode, a short one. It’s also paired with my iphone 15. Both the watch and the phone use the latest IOS and watchOS. I was trying to add cards to my wallet, but it keeps popping up a message that says Apple Pay needs a passcode. I already have a passcode. It’s also weird that the watch is not locking up when I am not wearing it. Wrist detection is on. Please, can someone enlighten me?

Are you using the same passcode on your iPhone and watch? You should to make matters like this easier. If not, try the other passcode.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
