Are my Airpods Pro real or fake? 😭

I recently bought "Airpods Pro" 1st gen off the Facebook Marketplace. Here are some red flags I noticed: Inside the case, "serial" is spelled "seral". The box feels off as It's extremely difficult to open it. Spatial audio with head tracking isn't working even tho it's on. Active noise canceling is really weak. I can't change the tips as if it was glued. It's extremely easy to rip it open (I did it accidentally when trying to change the tips), etc. However, they do have a serial number, and when I looked it up it said they had AppleCare+. Plus a message does pop up when I open the case on my iphone. Please help! 😭

Are my Airpods Pro real or fake?: I recently bought "Airpods Pro" 1st gen off the Facebook Marketplace. I already checked the device's coverage and it said Apple Airpods Pro with AppleCare+

Return This:

This would be a packaging error, if sold to you by Apple. So, I recommend you return this to the seller, and purchase it once more —but this time directly from Apple.

Who knows (but the seller)?: You may have been scammed. So, contact Apple Support, all in regards to this misspelling(which is what draws all this conspiracy). Take some photos of what you are seeing, and then show them to the Apple Rep through use of screensharing.

If Apple deems this as a fraudulent item, then that it potentially is. If such is the case, then contact Amazon, reporting this as a potential scam. All another reason to purchase expensive Apple products directly from Apple and none other.

Apple Support Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Verify this is a Genuine Device:

A. Going Through the Seller:

First, see if this is genuine. If not purchased form Apple, then contact the company, requesting a return. Based on personal experience, I'd recommend getting expensive Apple devices directly from Apple to avoid scams and the like. So, to get this investigated further, contact Apple Support, as it may be a glitch in their system, or that you may have been sold an ungenuine device. Provide them with a screenshot of this message:

Apple Contact Us Info:

  • Proceed from there as Necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

For reference...

B. Verifying Genuine AirPods:

Perform the following --then report back the results.

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find your Mac Model Name and Serial Number - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.
  3. View the Results: If all shows up as a M1 MacBoo Pro, then you are fine. If not, then (A.) it is a fake device or (B.)is it an error in Apple's device database. and that is likely why you are getting the issue..
