text messages for 2 factor authentication are not coming through. Apple codes come through because they are not text messages, but for credit card companies, at&t, xfinity, and others do not come through. any ideas?

Make sure you have the correct number entered, if you do, then you need to report the issue to your phone carrier, SMS is their feature.
