CarPlay switching to voice mode when approaching my home or work

Hello,

I’ve noticed an ongoing issue across 2 cars and 3 iPhones now. After a few months of consistently driving somewhere regularly with CarPlay enabled eventually when I get close to that location my CarPlay will switch to voice mode and if I am streaming music it suddenly gets really quiet and audio is similar to a phone call.

Initially I thought I might have a proximity waking setting for when my phone connects to my home network and this is to prompt me to unlock a door or open the garage door. So I disabled all my smart home settings and reset them, still had the issue.

I also tested this with my wifi and Bluetooth disabled and still had issues, I can temporarily fix the issue by resetting my CarPlay settings but it will just start doing this again after a few months.

I really can’t isolate the issue, maybe someone else can weigh in ?
