iMac (2023) - macOS Sonoma Not compatible?

Hi guys,

i really Need help because I have no idea what to do:

I have the newest iMac since today and when I did my first start I erased the drive and formated it with APFS to do a fresh and clean install of macOS Sonoma.

I did this many times with my 3 years old iMac which I had before and Never had any issue. Erasing of the Hard Drive and (re)install of the latest MacOS via Internet Recovery or bootstick.

But this time with my new iMac I probably did something wrong because I cannot install MacOS Sonoma anymore.

If I try the Reinstall with the MacOS recovery I get an error Message directly at the beginning when to Installation try to „Load the Installation Information“.

When I try to install Sonoma directly From my bootstick I get the error Message that my Mac is Not compatible with Sonoma.

Now I have an iMac which I cannot use and no idea what to do :-(

Your 2023 iMac is compatible with sonoma, of course it is

But I guess that you erased the whole system, also the recovery partition.

Make a bootstick with Ventura, install Ventura and after that upgrade to sonona.

Hi all,

Solved the Problem. But the only thing that worked was using another Mac und doing a Factory reset of the new Mac using DFU Mode…

I tried this meanwhile and created a bootstick with macOS Ventura.

I get the exactly same Message when I try to install Ventura via my bootstick:

“MacOS Ventura is Not compatible with this Mac“… :-(
