print requests from iPhone to Canon TS9520 fails

During the past few months, communication between my iphone SE and my Canon TS9520 printer began failing. I've run every "fix" recommended online concerning Canon and it makes no difference. I'm suspecting the issue may be on the iphone/apple side of things. Router is Arris-8135-5G. Printer works perfectly wirelessly from MacBook Air but, as i say, it's disobeying requests from iphone. Thanks.

iPhone SE, iOS 17

Do the following, in this order:

  • If you have VPN installed, delete the VPN profile and app - If that doesn't fix it proceed with the next steps
  • power off the printer
  • Power off your iPhone
  • Restart your router by unplugging it for 15 seconds (many newer routers have no true power switch)
  • Turn on your iPhone
  • Connect the iPhone to the Wi-Fi network if it doesn’t automatically connect
  • Power on the printer and wait for it to connect to Wi-Fi

You should also check with the printer manufacturer for a software update for the printer.

These steps restart the BonJour network that supports AirPrint, and will usually resolve any AirPrint issues. You probably don’t need to do all of them, but following these steps is usually less work than finding the one that is causing the problem.

Hi,

>I've run every "fix" recommended online concerning Canon

Have you tried a full power-cycle sequence (including the router, in this order, with these waiting times)?

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the Canon printer, the iPhone, the Mac, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the Canon printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iPhone and the Mac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

Are you using VPN on the iPhone?

See, for example, a reply by Lawrence Finch in Stuck on gathering printer supplies infor… - Apple Community.

Have you checked whether the printer has been updated to the latest firmware version?

Is the printer wirelessly connected to the Wi-Fi router? If so, just as a test, any change if you wire the printer by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports of the router instead? AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections. The Mac (and the iPhone) can still be wirelessly connected to the router.

If nothing else works, you could perhaps try the Canon PRINT iOS app as a temporary solution.

EDIT: Just noticed that Lawrence Finch had posted a reply while I was composing my message, so I have without intention more or less repeated some of the things already suggested.
